Beer 82: La Rulles La Grande
Clearly I am on a Belgian strong ale kick. This one is a Belgian strong pale ale (10% ABV). It comes from Brasserie Artisanale de Rulles in Belgium - a brewery started in 2000. A mere babe compared to some of the breweries that have been on my list lately! It poured a light shade of cloudy apricot with a thin white head that left impressive lacing behind.
It smells a bit hoppy but mostly of general beer smell. The taste is quite good and complex. There is orange and a hint of clove. It comes with a hop bitterness up front that mellows nicely. There’s also a good bread flavor. And some spice. The finish is dry.
Gary reviewed Estivale from La Rulles a few weeks ago. Both are nice beers. I'm off to savor the rest of this one. Cheers!
