Interception, Giftopoulos!!!!

Beer# 23 Hoptical Illusion/ Blue Point Brewing Company, Patchogue, NY
Things I did today: Went to work.  Watched PSU football.

When going to work was the highlight of your day, something is significantly wrong.  At least today involved beer.  Um, for watching football.... not while at work.

Today's beer is the Hoptical Illusion from Blue Point, an American Pale Ale.  It brings along a hoppy, dry and clean taste.  I get a little bit of fruit flavor, but its muted.  Fairly easy drinking pale ale that checks in at 60 IBUs (less than Bengali Tiger, for those who have read this blog in the past week).  I'm not entirely overwhelmed, but let's face it, I like this beer for a very good and specific reason: because someone gave it to me as a GIFT.  A thoughtful co-worker read the blog, and brought us two beers that weren't yet in the line-up.  Let's face it, the best beers in the world are those that are free.

Note to everyone reading this: please feel free to also give us bottles of beer to try.  We're happy to sample beers you love or just have in your fridge!  Free shout outs and internet fame for those who send us beer!
Photo taken at work. Beer consumed elsewhere.  Trust me.

Things to Think About Today:
25 years ago today, we saw possibly the greatest college football game ever played: Penn State vs. Miami in the Fiesta Bowl for the national championship.
via ESPN

A match up of #1 vs. #2, good vs. evil, style vs. substance - whatever you want to call it, this game was a turning point for the college football landscape.  Much has been written about this game, and an amazing summary can be found from ESPN (I know, they otherwise suck).

A million clips live on youtube if you want to relive Vinny Testaverde get intercepted (and again, and again, and again, and again).  However, there's football to watch today so you get the exclamation points:

Interception, Giftopoulos!!

For those who also want to see Tim Johnson nearly separate Vinny's head from his shoulders, here are the magical final 4 downs in their entirety.  Way to insist on throwing the ball, Miami!

And just for kicks, who doesn't love a championship parade?

A new era in Penn State football officially gets under way tomorrow.  Like it or not, the future is now.  Hopefully we're not waiting another 25 years for the next parade.

  1. 25 years ago tonight, and it's still the best game ever played. The defense was played brilliantly and confused the hell out of Testaverde. The secondary, who the Miami players said was "too short", hit the Miami receivers so hard that they didn't want to catch the ball. Thanks for the memories,
